Frankly, I was expecting a gruesome episode with lions and tigers and such chasing down animals and eating them, but there was very little of that. Mostly we, the viewers, were spared the horrible part of the animal existence of predator and prey.
What seemed a little odd was that a good chunk of the footage shown here, I believe, was shown elsewhere (as in other episodes). In other words, I've seen three cheetahs going after an ostrich, the Brown Bears catching salmon, the baby Ibex eluding a wolf, and another segment or two. Whatever, there was still enough new and fascinating material here to make this another very interesting episode. In fact, the closeup and slow-motion photography in here is about as good as it gets in any of the episodes, particularly the closeups.
You see some incredible sights in this edition of "Life," such as a bulldog bat, cute little stoats, Bottlenose dolphins and the oddest of all: a star-nose mole, who hunts for food both on land and underwater. For sheer drama, the story of one particular Orca whale is amazing and one you won't forget.
This episodes keeps things moving a very brisk pace.
